Auburn, Ma Guitar Show
March 16, 2003

Those of you will remember last years Auburn show as having lots of interesting items. This year there was not as much harp related stuff: either amps or mics. I bought a TJ HarpHolder thing that clamps on the front of a JT-30 and has a place where you can set a harp. I also bought a white premier knob for $3 and an 8" and a 10" Jensen special design speakers for some amps with dying speakers in them.

Here's the pics:

This deluxe cost so much that I couldn't find anybody who knew the price. It's a 1956 in mostly original condition.

This early Ampeg Rocket had never been serviced. The insides were all original. IT needed a cap job and needed to be retubed. The owner wanted $500 for it, but I suspect that's too high by $200.

This Guild MasterAmp from around 1954 used 6L6 tubes instead of the 50L6's. I own 2 and they both use 50L6 tubes. This amp was made by Premier (As you can see). It is equivalent to a Fender Super from around the same time and yet you could have walked away with it for $300.

This 1966 Bassman is way too big. I'd cut the speaker cabinet in half (I know it's sacrilege) and make two cabinets. Because the thing is just too big to store and use the amp went for $450.

The Zeeta guys were there. They had some cool modified Deluxe clones that sounded great.

The prizes were hidden under a table. The Supro was a steal at $125 (I only had $80 left) and the Premier 120 was a little high at $325. This is the 2 6V6 kind with a circuit board instead of point to point wiring. The handle was broken off and it had other signs of abuse. I didn't try and play through it.

Buy the Book!

I cleaned up my tab for Sonny Boy's Help Me and made it into a short book. There's a Kindle version for 99 cents, and if you buy the paperback you get the Kindle free.
