The Garden State Harmonica Club

When I first tried to learn how to pay harp, I heard about the Garden State Harmonica Club. I went down a few times and had a good time. They aren't a blues club and although some are interested in blues they are mostly a Chromatic Peg-O-My-Heart bunch of guys (and a few women). I did meet Carlos Colina there, which led to him playing with my brother and forming the Straight Up band. Mostly though these guys are WWII vets.

If you are more interested in the Harmonicats than Little Walter or like the Harmonica Rascals rather than Kim Wilson, then stop by their website. The Garden State Harmonica club also has a great festival once a year so if you can make it, you might want to stop by.

Thanks, that was a very kind blurb on our group. We have a good year so far, with gaining 12 new members and a new meeting hall with grat AV abilities. Now, in additon to playing at our meetings, we also look at old movies with groups like the Harmonica Rascals. We also had a brief appearance on the BBC TV program, The Culture Show, July 9th. The BBC was doing a feature on John Barry and needed harmonica players for some background. The film crew and star, Zena (a UK version of Oprah), came to our annual Picnic in June and taped us. It was different and fun. We welcome anyone interested in the harmonica to come to our monthly meetings, the next one will be September 28th, after summer recess.

Buy the Book!

I cleaned up my tab for Sonny Boy's Help Me and made it into a short book. There's a Kindle version for 99 cents, and if you buy the paperback you get the Kindle free.
