Tom Ellis has been collecting, restoring and selling vintage harp mics even longer than JT30.com has been online. His original website went away, but I recently discovered that he had a page over at HarmonicaMasterClass.com. Check out the stuff. I only wish there were pictures.

I buy mics. I don't sell them. There are lots of good mic restorers around, but there prices are too high for me. One thing, though. Millions of 520 mics were made so keep watching ebay for a cheap one. I think you are looking for a good high impedance CM type element. You might try hooking in an analog delay and a compressor stomp box. These two can compensate for a wishy washy mic.

Hi Tom, glad I came accross your website. I have a fender pro junior and a 520DX shure mic. I can't quite set the vinatage tone i am after with this new mic. I am from new zealand and can get a vintage 520 for a reasonable price from ebay but i don't trust what i am buying. How much would it cost me for a vintage 520 (you choose the best element) and 1.4 inch jack paint job not neccesary, the more original the better. Your help much appreciated, Cheers, Froggy Robinson
